Terms of Use
NeuroNav is a free, not-for-profit accessibility tool. These terms are written in plain English because our users deserve to understand them. By using NeuroNav, you agree to these terms.
1. Who we are
NeuroNav is an Australian not-for-profit organisation providing free AI-powered accessibility tools for people with disabilities, vulnerabilities, and the carers and support workers who assist them. We operate the website at neuronav.com.au and the NeuroNav web application.
Contact us at: [email protected]
2. What NeuroNav is — and is not
⚠️ Important: NeuroNav is an AI support tool. It is NOT a substitute for professional medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. Always consult a qualified professional for decisions affecting your health, legal rights, or finances. In an emergency, call 000.
NeuroNav provides:
- AI-assisted tools to help understand confusing letters, documents, and notices in plain English
- Accessibility features including text-to-speech, AAC symbols, voice input, and simplified language
- Daily living tools — medication tracking, routines, check-ins, and handover notes
- Support tools for carers and support workers
- General information about NDIS, rights, and disability support in Australia
NeuroNav does not provide:
- Medical diagnosis, clinical assessment, or health advice
- Legal advice or representation
- Financial planning or investment advice
- Crisis intervention or emergency services (in an emergency, call 000)
3. Who can use NeuroNav
NeuroNav is free for anyone to use. You do not need to create an account for the core letter explanation feature. There are no age restrictions on accessing NeuroNav, however:
- Users under 13 should use NeuroNav with the supervision of a parent, guardian, or carer
- The Kid Mode feature is designed for users aged 8–17 and should ideally be used with adult oversight
- Carers and support workers using NeuroNav on behalf of a client are responsible for using it appropriately within their professional obligations
- People experiencing mental health difficulties are welcome to use NeuroNav. NeuroNav is not a crisis service — in a mental health emergency, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or 000
- Where a person uses NeuroNav under a guardianship or supported decision-making arrangement, the guardian or support person is responsible for ensuring appropriate use
3a. NDIS participants and support workers
NeuroNav includes tools specifically designed for NDIS participants and their support workers. Users who are registered NDIS support workers or providers must use NeuroNav in compliance with:
- The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Code of Conduct
- The NDIS Practice Standards applicable to their registration
- Their organisation's internal policies and procedures
- Their duties under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (Cth)
NeuroNav's AI-generated content (shift notes, behaviour support guidance, professional communications) must be reviewed and verified by the support worker before use in formal documentation. NeuroNav's output does not constitute a certified behaviour support plan or clinical assessment.
4. AI features and how they work
NeuroNav's AI features are powered by Anthropic's Claude, accessed via a secure server-side proxy operated by NeuroNav. You do not need to supply your own API key. By using AI features, you acknowledge:
- Your text is sent to our Netlify-hosted proxy server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude AI on your behalf
- NeuroNav does not store or log your AI conversations — text is discarded immediately after the AI response is returned to you
- AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate — always apply your own judgement and consult professionals for important decisions
- AI processing involves cross-border transfer of your text to the United States (Netlify and Anthropic) — see our Privacy Policy for full details
- NeuroNav's AI is configured to always respond in plain, calm English — however it is not infallible
5. Subscriptions and payments
NeuroNav offers optional paid plans (Plus at $9.99/month and Supporter at $24.99/month) for unlimited AI access. These plans are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. By subscribing:
- You agree to Stripe's terms of service at stripe.com/au/legal
- NeuroNav does not store your payment card details — these are handled entirely by Stripe
- Subscriptions are billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time
- Plus and Supporter plans may be claimable under NDIS (Support Category 05 — Assistive Technology) — consult your plan manager
- 7-day free trials apply to first-time subscribers
- Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis — contact [email protected]
6. Your data and privacy
NeuroNav stores all personal app data (mood logs, medications, routines, notes, emergency contacts) in your browser's local storage only. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. For full details, including how AI processing works, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use NeuroNav to:
- Harass, abuse, or harm others

Content you enter into NeuroNav (your notes, routines, and messages) remains yours. We claim no rights over it.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
NeuroNav is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, we disclaim all liability for:
- Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated responses
- Any decisions made based on NeuroNav outputs — always verify important decisions with a qualified professional
- Loss of data stored in your browser's local storage
- Service interruptions or technical issues
- Actions or omissions of third-party providers (Anthropic, Stripe, Netlify, Resend)
- Consequences of missed deadlines not identified by NeuroNav's AI output
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. If you are a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law, you have statutory guarantees that apply regardless of these terms.
